Somali Government Forces Recapture Bacaadweyne, Mudug Region from AS

Reports from the Mudug region indicate that Somali government forces, including Galmudug’s Darawiish forces, the Somali National Army and organised local forces known as Macawisley have launched a major offensive this morning, successfully entering and taking control of most parts of Bacaadweyne town in southern Mudug.

According to security officials, the operation targeted Al-Shabaab strongholds in the area, and after intense clashes, the militant group withdrew from the town. Government forces are now conducting security operations to stabilize the area according to reports.

Although the exact number of casualties remains unconfirmed, sources indicate that both sides suffered losses in the battle.

In recent days, government and Galmudug regional forces have been carrying out operations aimed at eliminating Al-Shabaab remnants from Mudug, signaling continued efforts to secure the region.

President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud promised a total war against Al-Shabab fighters until victory and urged Somali people to unite to defeat the enemy indicating the military’s recent intensfied operations in parts of the country gained significant ground from the group.
