Reports from the Middle Shabelle region indicate that the town of Ceel Baraf is facing a renewed crisis, following a recent attack targeting civilians.
This comes shortly after a previous incident where soldiers from the Somali National Army were killed in what is believed to be a clan-related conflict according to reports.
The latest unrest erupted after an armed group repoy launched an attack in the area last night, resulting in the death of one civilian and injuries to three others.
Eyewitnesses from the community in the area confirmed that the assailants arrived with a vehicle and opened fire on innocent farmers.
In addition to the casualties, the attackers reportedly set fire to a tractor owned by the farmers before fleeing the scene. This incident has heightened tensions in Ceel Baraf, causing widespread fear and bringing daily activities to a standstill.
Authorities from the local security forces and the HirShabelle regional administration have yet to issue any statements regarding the attack.
The community remains on edge, as this incident is believed to be a continuation of the violence that claimed the lives of the soldiers, who were later buried in Beledweyne, the capital of the Hiiraan region, following mediation efforts.
The situation in Ceel Baraf remains tense, with residents calling for urgent intervention to prevent further violence and restore peace in the region.
