The Banaadir Regional Police Command has presented four individuals along with sacks containing cannabis, which they are accused of trafficking. The suspects were apprehended during a security operation conducted in Gubadley District, Mogadishu.
According to police reports, one of the suspects was armed with an AK-47 rifle. All four individuals have been remanded in one of Mogadishu’s federal prisons and are set to face trial, authorities confirmed.
Somalia’s federal security agencies have intensified their operations to enhance security in Mogadishu, focusing on cracking down on drug trafficking and the use of mind-altering substances, which are often linked to criminal activities.
Authorities have previously issued stern warnings to individuals involved in the trade and use of illicit substances. Law enforcement reiterated that anyone caught in such activities will be prosecuted in court.
