Some of the main roads in Mogadishu have been closed today, with the federal government forces refusing to allow the use of all types of vehicles to access restricted areas
Traffic was disrupted and civilians were not even allowed to walk on the restricted areas as confirmed by some people who have been repatriated from closed roads.
Late last night, the troops were deployed on the closed roads this morning, the roads are deserted as traffic and pedestrians are stopped due to the commemoration of the establishment of the Armed Forces.
A ceremony to mark the 62nd anniversary of the formation of the Somali National Army is set to take place in Mogadishu despite doubts over Villa Somalia’s plans, according to various sources.
The 12th April is a great day for the Somali people to celebrate and express the unreserved gratitude and commitment to Somali gallant soldiers.
Somali Minister of Defense Abdulkadir Mohamed Nur Jama congratulated the troops and warned them not to be used for activities outside the force.
“All Armed Forces and their commanders should not have a brand or purpose other than the National Constitution and be vigilant against divisive policies that will end in time,” said the Somali Minister of Defense.
